The only worthwile point that I was able to find was under twenty where Barry talks about the aim of war being not peace but victory and the violence used to achieve victory is justified by the victory and leads to further violence. "The aim and result of war necessarily is not peace but victory, and any victory won by violence necessarily justifies the violence that won it and leads to further violence". I believe his point about violence leading to more violence is true, however there are some people you just cannot reason with. I still disagree with most of what he has to say here as many wars are fought to achieve peace. Apperently Mr. Barry forgets the second world war. What else were the allies fighting for other than peace? The recent wars in Iraq and Afghanastan were fought to overthrow two powerful and severly oppressive forces, Saddam Hussein and the Taliban, even though I am sure that Barry would argue that the point of these wars is to steal oil or bully some third world countries because America is horrible, did'nt you know?

  1. I also agree that violence does not lead to peace it leads to further violence. It may lead to victory but in the end its not peace.

  2. I toi feel that when you use violence it only creates more violence and problems. Peace does not cone from violence and I feel a true victory doesnt come from violence.

    1. I feel like he might have had the wrong outlook on war. I think war is about making peace not making a victory and using violence to establish that victory is not a way to do it. I think it is important to be at peace with one another but then again how can you be at peace with someone else if youre not at peace with yourself.
