In the Presence of Fear

There were a couple ideas in Berry's essay that I found thought provoking. The first one was in VI. It says that "everything depends on innovation". It explained that technological innovations made things better and better. In some cases this is true because new innovations, especially technological innovations boost the economy. These days everyone is into technology so they are looking for the newest things which means they will buy whatever it is they want. The other idea that stuck out to me was in XXVII. When it said that "the first thing we must begin to teach our children (and learn ourselves) is that we cannot spend and consume endlessly. We have got to learn to save and conserve". I think this is very important because it is so true!

  1. I agree and I believe parents do try to teach there children this its just hard for them to understand it and get the idea of what they really need and what can be waited on.

  2. I agree with you on both your statements saving is great and everyone needs that new things even if they don't really have the money to get it.

  3. I agree with your thoughts on both statements. I think parents need to teach their children that things can not be accomplished by taking the easy way out with technology.
