My Interview

I did my interview yesterday on Tuesday and it went really well. It started off pretty shacky but ounce I got him on a topic he really liked it went really well from there. I did a lot of follow up questions because the stuff he was talking about was really interesting and I loved the part when I asked him to relate those values from his childhood to now and how he explained that to me. Then his dreams were just crazy but he was passionate about it and I dont think there is anyone or anything that will stop him from achieving it. After the interview I also felt pretty motivated. It was a really good experience and I had a lot of fun doing it.

I did my interview Monday night it was about fifty minutes, and since then I have been working on writing it all down. It takes a lot of time, so don't wait to start it. I think my interview went really well. I learned a lot and asking about their childhood was really interesting, due to the fact that I really didn't know anything about that. Also learning about how they help within the community was inspiring to do more to help others. I can't wait to finish writing it all down, and putting it in all down in a way that really gives a great profile on these truly amazing people. Good Luck to everyone else on their interviews.

Interview

Just finished my interview which I believe went really well. It was about 45 minutes long. The only problem I had was I forgot to flip the tape in my recorder after a half hour so hopefully with my notes and memory I can remember some of what was said in that last fifteen minutes. I am excited to put the transcript together and try to figure out what to keep in my paper.

Interview

I thought my interview went very well. It went for about 40 minutes because we had a service that night and he is hard to get a hold of so I will e-mail him questions I think of that I didn't get to ask him. I thought my best question that I asked him was the very first one I asked him which was, can you briefly tell me about your childhood because I found out a lot about him I didn't know. It was very educational. I learned a lot about the county, the church, and the world from him. I thought over all the interview was very helpful for my project.

McDonalds stop using "pink slime" to treat hamburgers

Just happened across this as I read the news this morning and it relates to what we saw in Food Inc. so I'm sharing the link!

Have a great weekend.

In the article, a dietitian , Sarah Prochaska, was asked her opinion, and it revealed again an emphasis on the domestic arts:  "It's a process, from what I understand, called 'mechanically separated meat' or 'meat product,'" Prochaska said.  "The only way to avoid it would be to choose fresher products, cook your meat at home, cook more meals at home."

Resurrecting the Domestic Arts

I think there is a direct correlation between the domestic arts dying out and how today's generation is always looking for the fastest way to do something so they can get to the next task as soon as possible. In today's society people are so tied up in their electronics and how fast this electronic piece of equipment run or how out dated that piece of technology is, that they forget to slow down and take a breather once in a while. I think the older people from past generations had the right idea about life. Going along at a nice easy pace and enjoying themselves. That is why activities such as gardening or sewing, heck even cooking for yourself has gone out the window, because today's age of technology makes it possible to quickly go out and purchase a shirt in ten minutes instead of taking the time to stitch it together yourself. Home cooked meals are a rarity anymore as well because of all the food joints that people can access, such as McDonalds or Burger King, Taco Bell and even now Bob Evans, what use to be a sit in restaurant, now has a carry out menu. I'll be the first one to admit that I am still mostly guilty of these things, but every now and again I like to cook up a homemake meal with my girlfriend. I just feel that people think that since it takes more time to do things, such as sewing or cooking, on thier own than it does to just drive down the road to Wal Mart and buy whatever it is they need that the easiest, and best solution is to buy that item. If we were to return to a much simpler way of life and slow down a little people could then fully grasp the amazing effects of having a nice home cooked meal with their families on days that are not holidays.
